Meet Prairie Hill’s New Teachers
Ms. Holland, 2nd Grade Teacher
Kelsea Holland is joining the Prairie Hill team as a new second grade teacher. She grew up in West Branch, Iowa on a small farm with ducks, chickens, bunnies, goats, cats, dogs and even a pet hedgehog! She went to school in Iowa City and graduated from City High School in 2019. Kelsea attended the University of Iowa and graduated this past May.
In her free time, she loves to read, weight lift at the gym and travel. She has been to 49 of the 50 states and 11 different countries around the world! Rachel also own a small photography business.
Mrs. Lamb, 3rd Grade Teacher
Rachel Lamb is a new third grade teacher at Prairie Hill this year. She earned her degree from Western Illinois University and her Masters in Educational Leadership from Mt. Mercy College in 2020. This will be her 12th year teaching but first year in 3rd grade.
In her free time, Rachel spends her time with her sons and husband. Together they play outside, go to parks, go on walks or anything outside. Rachel and her boys love to watch movies together. Rachel is excited to join the Prairie Hill community and build relationships with families.
Miss Northey, 3rd Grade Teacher
Madison Northey is a new 3rd grade teacher at Prairie Hill. She recently graduated in December 2022 from the University of Northern Iowa. Madison grew up in Marion, Iowa and graduated from Linn-Mar high school. She student taught at Prairie View last fall and then she was a long-term guest teacher at Prairie Ridge last spring. Needless to say, Madison is very excited to be returning to the College Community School District this fall!
In Madison’s free time, she likes to be outside preferably on the water, whether that be fishing or kayaking. She also loves to read and spend time with her family. Madison’s favorite part about teaching so far is seeing how students collaborate together to accomplish a task.
Ms. Norton, Special Ed Level 3 Teacher
Samantha Norton is thrilled to be teaching at Prairie Hill since she has volunteered, student taught, and coached Cheer and Soccer within the District. Samantha graduated from Western Dubuque Community School District where she then attended Kirkwood Community College. While at Kirkwood Samantha volunteered in a few districts, and she fell in love with the Elementary level when she volunteered in Mrs. Thompson’s room here at Hill. After Kirkwood Samantha transferred to University of Iowa and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
In her free time, she loves to travel with family and friends, watch tv and movies, listen to music, workout, and hang out with her fur babies (dog and cat). Samantha’s favorite part about teaching is getting to see each student’s personal growth, and getting to build relationships with all students.
